We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electron Microscope Technician to join our dedicated team at the University of Cambridge. As a key member of our Electron Microscope Suite, you will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of our Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEMs) and related equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert technical support to users of our TEMs, ensuring high-quality research output and safe operation of the instruments.
- Develop and deliver training programs for new users, ensuring they have the necessary skills to operate the TEMs and related equipment effectively.
- Maintain and troubleshoot TEM instruments and ancillary equipment, managing service contracts with external engineers as needed.
- Manage laboratory consumables and equipment stocks to ensure smooth operation of the facility.
- Develop and implement safety protocols, including risk assessments and X-ray safety procedures.
- A degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of electron microscopes, particularly TEMs.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with precision and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to provide clear and effective training to users.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment.
