Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate to join our Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) Facility team at the University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will have a strong background in structural biology, electron microscopy, or a related field, and will be responsible for coordinating the use of instrumentation and expanding and improving the cryo-EM imaging technology within the facility.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the use of instrumentation and expand and improve the cryo-EM imaging technology within the facility.
- Work with diverse research groups within the Department and across the wider School of the Biological Sciences to facilitate a wide variety of imaging experiments.
- Prepare cryo-EM grids and operate cryo-electron microscopes for single particle and tomography data collection and analysis.
- Develop and implement new methods and techniques for cryo-EM imaging and data analysis.
The successful candidate will have a PhD/doctoral level degree in Structural Biology, Electron Microscopy, or a related field, and will have strong experience and practical knowledge in preparing cryo-EM grids and operating cryo-electron microscopes. Previous experience working in a multi-user research facility would be advantageous.
