Research Scientist

The Department of Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to join our Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) Facility team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in structural biology, electron microscopy, or a related field, and will be responsible for coordinating the use of instrumentation and expanding and improving the cryo-em imaging technology within the facility.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate the use of instrumentation and expand and improve the cryo-em imaging technology within the facility.
- Work with diverse research groups within the Department and across the wider School of the Biological Sciences to facilitate a wide variety of imaging experiments.
- Prepare cryo-EM grids and operate cryo-electron microscopes for single particle and tomography data collection and analysis.
- PhD/doctoral level degree in Structural Biology, Electron Microscopy, or a related field.
- Strong experience and practical knowledge in preparing cryo-em grids and operating cryo-electron microscopes.
- Previous experience working in a multiuser research facility is advantageous.
