Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom NHS Full time

The successful candidate will deliver expert clinical support to the in-reach teams operating within a correctional facility.

This role encompasses a diverse array of clinical duties, addressing the mental health needs of inmates experiencing various psychological conditions, including severe and persistent mental illnesses, personality disorders, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The correctional facility serves as a category B local and resettlement prison, housing approximately 500 individuals with a significant monthly turnover. The facility typically processes 1-10 new admissions daily, with around 50 new mental health referrals weekly for the In-Reach team. Recent inspections have been conducted to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

To enhance our recruitment efforts, we are open to discussing full-time employment opportunities for suitable candidates during the interview process.

Key Responsibilities

The in-reach teams manage a defined caseload, with several patients undergoing Care Programme Approach (CPA) management. New evaluations are generally integrated into scheduled ward rounds (for inpatients) and prearranged outpatient clinics when referrals are generated. All incoming referrals are assessed by the In-Reach Team. Occasionally, urgent assessments may be requested from various units within the facility, typically a few times weekly. While individual responsibilities may vary, the overarching approach emphasizes collaborative work across multidisciplinary mental health teams.
