Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

The successful candidate will deliver expert clinical services to the mental health in-reach teams within a correctional facility.

This role encompasses a diverse array of clinical duties, addressing the needs of individuals experiencing various mental health challenges, including severe and persistent mental disorders, personality disorders, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The facility operates as a local and resettlement prison, accommodating a significant number of individuals with a dynamic intake process. The mental health team receives numerous referrals weekly, necessitating a responsive and effective approach to mental health care.

To enhance our recruitment efforts, we are open to discussing full-time employment opportunities for qualified candidates during the interview process.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

The in-reach teams manage a caseload, with several patients requiring Care Programme Approach (CPA) management. New evaluations are typically integrated into scheduled ward rounds and outpatient clinics, with all referrals being systematically assessed by the in-reach team. Occasionally, urgent assessments may be requested from various units within the facility.

While individual responsibilities may vary, the overarching framework emphasizes collaborative practice across multidisciplinary mental health teams.

About Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust

Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust provides a comprehensive range of healthcare services to communities in South-East London and to individuals in correctional settings across England. Our services encompass community health initiatives, including nursing and therapeutic support, as well as specialized mental health care.

Recognized as one of the leading employers in the healthcare sector, Oxleas prioritizes staff experience and well-being, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.

Our Values

At Oxleas, we uphold core values that guide our operations: Kindness, Fairness, Active Listening, and Compassion. These principles are integral to our mission and contribute to making Oxleas a rewarding place to work.

Responsibilities of the Role

Clinical Engagement

  • Conducting assessments for individuals in various housing units and healthcare settings.
  • Collaborating with external services to coordinate CPAs, aftercare strategies, or hospital transfers.
  • Managing psychiatric cases within the inpatient unit.
  • Providing any additional care expected of a consultant in an in-reach capacity.
  • Engaging in quality improvement initiatives in partnership with multidisciplinary colleagues and service managers.

The post holder will collaborate closely with the Service Manager, fellow consultants, and clinical leadership to develop a resource allocation model that effectively meets service demands while ensuring a balanced professional workload.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Approved Clinician (AC) status.
  • Relevant clinical experience in the field.
