Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Coding Specialist to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Clinical Coding Department, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of our clinical coding processes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Code patient data accurately and efficiently, adhering to national rules and conventions.
  • Mentor and support less experienced clinical coding analysts to ensure high-quality coding standards.
  • Liaise with the Clinical Coding Manager to confirm appropriate diagnostic and procedure codes where national guidance is unclear.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of the clinical coding process and identify service improvements.
  • Demonstrate a high understanding of the importance of Data Quality, Data Protection, PBR, and HRGs.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Accredited Clinical Coding (ACC) Qualification.
  • Extensive medical terminology and anatomy and physiology knowledge.
  • Excellent understanding of PbR and HRGs.
  • Experience of using Medicode and electronic patient records (EPIC).
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate-level keyboard skills, proficiency in Excel and Word, and experience with Microsoft Teams.
