About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our team at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our CAMHS Urgent Care Pathway, you will play a vital role in providing specialist assessment, diagnosis, and intervention to young people aged 0-25 years old.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the Health Based Place of Safety and Psychiatric Decisions Unit
  • Manage and triage referrals, completing mental health assessments and signposting as appropriate
  • Provide cross-cover to the rest of the urgent care pathway, including home treatment and crisis teams
  • Represent the service at professional meetings and stakeholder events
  • Liaise with families and carers
  • Complete and hold oversight of mental health act processes and documentation

Requirements
  • Registered Nurse RMN
  • Relevant post-qualifying qualification or equivalent level of training
  • Relevant postgraduate study or further skills-based training
  • Extensive post-registration experience in mental health care
  • Use of therapeutic interventions with children and young people, including 1:1 counselling, family therapy, and group work
  • Delivering teaching and training
  • Providing consultation and liaison with inpatient settings
