About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities to join our team at NHS Professionals. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational management of our estates and facilities functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and align our estate strategy with clinical and corporate objectives, ensuring effective estates and facilities management.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including Trust Board, Clinical Directors, and Staff Representatives, as well as external stakeholders such as government agencies and professional bodies.
  • Financial Management: Manage significant revenue and capital budgets, ensuring financial targets are met, and develop business cases to support investment and deliver cost improvement programmes.
  • People Management: Lead and develop teams across various functions and disciplines, promoting professional standards and a positive culture within the estates and facilities department.
  • Information Management: Oversee property databases and information systems for estates and facilities, ensuring compliance with information governance and data protection standards.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance and safety, leading change management initiatives and ensuring effective staff communication.
  • New Hospital Development: Support the development of business cases for new build projects, leading estates and facilities work streams to ensure a patient-centred built environment and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Education and Qualifications: Relevant degree and post-graduate qualification (level 8), Chartered professional registration/accreditation, or Project management certification.
  • Skills, Knowledge & Experience: Broad understanding of the NHS context and national agenda, extensive senior management experience in estates and facilities, technical, construction, and project management skills, proven track record in strategic planning and budget management, effective partnership working across sectors, financial control and risk management expertise, and achieving ambitious targets within tight budgets.
