Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated and proactive individuals to become part of our Microbiology Laboratory team as a Laboratory Associate Technician, Band 4. This role is available in both full-time and part-time capacities.

In this position, you will assist the Biomedical Scientists within the Microbiology Laboratory.

Located at Ipswich Hospital, our goal is to provide cutting-edge, high-quality pathology services that prioritize our clients and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Our pathology division is part of the collaborative East Coast Pathology Network.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct various healthcare science clinical and technical activities under supervision, performing standard Microbiology tests. Maintain clinical documentation related to performed activities; may input or review test results from others. May be required to oversee, organize, and delegate tasks, as well as train less experienced colleagues in the department. Uphold and promote the professional image of the pathology division.

Qualifications

Essential

Relevant NVQ Level 3/diploma or equivalent qualification. Additional theoretical or applied training equivalent to diploma level.

Desirable

Progressing towards a Foundation degree or equivalent.

Experience

Essential

Proven knowledge of a variety of routine and non-routine healthcare science tasks. Demonstrable hands-on experience in a laboratory setting.

Desirable

Familiarity with Pathology IT systems. Understanding of Quality Management Systems. Previous relevant experience within the NHS. European Computer Driving Licence or equivalent certification.
