Geriatrician Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Geriatrician to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a key member of our medical staff, you will play a crucial role in improving the care of older people in our region.
Main Responsibilities- Provide Clinical Services: Work with colleagues to prevent, diagnose, and treat illness in older people, utilizing your expertise in geriatric medicine to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Frailty Service Delivery: Participate in a frailty specific intake, working with a multidisciplinary team to assess and care for older people admitted to the Acute Frailty Unit, and share responsibility with existing consultants to deliver the acute frailty service.
- Single Point of Access: Participate in running the single point of access integrated hub, overseeing and directing community services to avoid medical admission where possible, and contributing to the development of effective care pathways.
Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas. We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, and other local organizations, committed to improving the wellbeing and wealth of South West Wales.
Person Specification- Qualifications: Registered with the GMC, licensed to practice, and on Specialist Register with GMC as a specialist in Geriatric Medicine and general internal medicine or eligible for CCT within 6 months of date of interview.
- Experience: Evidence of an ability to develop effective working relationships with all levels of staff, working with management and clinical colleagues to improve a service, and values partnership with other agencies.
- Skills: Effective leadership, ability to take responsibility and demonstrate leadership when appropriate, and understands the importance of effective Team Working with all levels of staff.
- Personal Attributes: Flexible and adaptable to competing demands, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and cope with setbacks, and a commitment to continuous improvement, with a positive attitude, seeks out learning, and continually develops skills and the service.
