About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Geriatrician to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a key member of our acute medical service, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to older patients with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and expertise in geriatric medicine, working closely with junior doctors and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of our acute frailty service, including the frailty specific intake and SDEC specific frailty service (OPAS).
  • Contribute to the safe, efficient, and effective functioning of our services, working in partnership with clinical and managerial colleagues to achieve our goals.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff, including junior doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in teaching and training of postgraduate and undergraduate clinical staff, sharing your expertise and knowledge to support the development of our team.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Registered with the GMC and licensed to practice.
  • On Specialist Register with GMC as a specialist in Geriatric Medicine and general internal medicine or eligible for CCT within 6 months of date of interview.
  • MRCP or equivalent.
  • Relevant higher degree (PhD, MD, MSc) and teaching qualification/Higher qualification in medical education (desirable).
