Position Overview

The UK Health Security Agency is seeking a highly skilled individual to join our scientific advisory team dedicated to immunisation strategies. This role is integral to supporting the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) and its associated expert groups.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide essential scientific support to the JCVI and various UKHSA groups, ensuring effective collaboration and communication. Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating closely with committee chairs and epidemiologists to facilitate the efficient operation of JCVI sub-committees and expert groups.
  • Drafting scientific and technical support documents in partnership with UKHSA experts and committee members.
  • Preparing meeting agendas and related documentation within established timelines.
  • Coordinating the distribution of meeting materials with the assistance of administrative personnel.
  • Organising and participating in meetings, documenting discussions, and following up on action items.
  • Supporting committee members in achieving their objectives and goals.
  • Overseeing administrative staff to ensure proper arrangements for meetings, including logistics and refreshments.

The role also entails managing meeting logistics, compiling and disseminating documentation, and drafting minutes and action notes. The post-holder may be tasked with ensuring follow-up on actions with committee members to track progress. Additionally, correspondence on behalf of committee chairs may be required, ensuring seamless information flow within and outside the UKHSA.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Proven experience in scientific administration and committee oversight.
  • Strong background in writing scientific reports.
  • Understanding of the epidemiology and microbiology related to respiratory infections and vaccine-preventable diseases.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative capabilities, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Analytical skills and proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to navigate complex issues and synthesize information from diverse sources.
  • Strategic mindset with the capacity to proactively address challenges and make informed decisions.
  • Initiative to propose relevant actions and recommendations to enhance operational effectiveness.
