Role Overview

Colas is seeking Regional Response Team (RRT) Technicians to join our team, primarily working night shifts. You will follow instructions from the Dispatcher in the Regional Operational Centre and your supervisors, ensuring that work orders are executed promptly and meet the required quality standards. Safety is paramount, and you will adhere to site rules and permitting regulations while representing Colas in a professional manner.

Key Responsibilities

As a RRT Technician, your duties will include:

  • Executing temporary defect repairs safely.
  • Applying safe working methods to all tasks.
  • Understanding and adhering to procedures related to Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
  • Following procedures regarding Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) regulations.
  • Driving in compliance with The Road Traffic Act.
  • Operating machinery as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Installing and removing Traffic Management as needed.
  • Working on a four days on, four days off schedule, including both day and night shifts, as well as bank holidays.
  • Ensuring all operations are conducted with full regard for the safety of visitors, colleagues, and yourself.
  • Conducting all activities with consideration for the environment, preventing pollution, complying with legal and corporate standards, and minimizing environmental impact.
Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a flexible and hardworking individual with experience in a similar highway maintenance environment and possess C1E driving experience. You should be enthusiastic and capable of working within a small team with minimal supervision. A valid UK Driving Licence (Essential) and HGV Class 2 Licence is required unless you have a strong background in Traffic Management. Good physical health is necessary as the role can be physically demanding. Additional qualifications such as DCPC and Traffic Management TTMBC are desirable.

Compensation Package

At Colas, we offer a comprehensive compensation package, which includes:

  • A salary range of £11.44 to £14.37 (dependent on experience and licenses), with a 30% uplift for night shifts.
