Role Overview

Colas is seeking Regional Response Team (RRT) Technicians to be primarily based at our designated depot, predominantly working night shifts. You will be responsible for executing instructions from the Dispatcher in the Regional Operational Centre and your supervisors, ensuring that work orders are completed promptly and to the required quality standards. It is essential to maintain safety at all times, adhering to site regulations and permitting requirements, while consistently representing Colas in a professional manner.

Key Responsibilities

As an RRT Technician, your primary duties will include:

  • Safely performing temporary defect repairs.
  • Implementing safe working methods for all tasks.
  • Understanding and adhering to procedures related to Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
  • Complying with Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) regulations.
  • Driving in accordance with The Road Traffic Act.
  • Operating machinery as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Installing and removing Traffic Management as necessary.
  • Being available for a four days on, four days off schedule, including both day and night shifts, as well as bank holiday work.
  • Ensuring that all operations are conducted with full consideration for the safety of visitors, colleagues, and yourself.
  • Conducting all activities with a focus on environmental responsibility, preventing pollution, complying with legal and corporate standards, and minimizing environmental impact.
Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a flexible and hardworking individual with experience in a similar highway maintenance environment and possess C1E driving qualifications. You should be enthusiastic and capable of working effectively within a small team with minimal supervision. A valid UK Driving Licence is essential, and an HGV Class 2 Licence is required unless you have a strong background in Traffic Management. Good physical health is necessary as the role can be physically demanding. Additional qualifications such as DCPC and Traffic Management TTMBC are desirable.
