Job Description

Job Title: Governance Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Governance Manager to lead our Governance Team at Derbyshire County Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Council's formal meetings, providing expert advice to senior officers and elected members, and developing the skills and expertise of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Governance Team and provide effective supervision to team members
  • Provide expert advice to senior officers and elected members on governance matters
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective governance
  • Manage the Council's formal meetings and ensure compliance with governance regulations
  • Develop the skills and expertise of team members in accordance with the Council's One Team ethos

Requirements:

  • Proven experience of leading a Governance team in a local authority or relevant sector
  • Strong understanding of governance regulations and policies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work at a corporate level and provide strategic leadership
  • Politically astute and able to respond positively to challenges and demanding deadlines
