Job Summary

The Private Sector Housing Team at Derbyshire County Council is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join their team as a Technical Officer. This role will involve working with vulnerable homeowners and private tenants to provide home improvements and disabled adaptations, enabling residents to live independently in their homes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of Disabled Facilities Grants, ensuring timely and efficient processing of applications.
  • Process grant applications, including statutory means-testing and benefit/financial assessments, to determine eligibility and recommend grants/loans for approval.
  • Oversee work on-site and process grant payments, ensuring high-quality standards and timely completion.
  • Assist with other housing support services, such as Green Homes Grants, heating repairs/improvements, and essential home repairs, to provide comprehensive support to residents.
  • Visit customers in their homes to gather information, discuss their housing needs, and determine how to best meet their individual requirements, while considering relevant policies and procedures.

Requirements

This role requires a valid driving licence and access to a personal vehicle for work purposes. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to build trust and maintain strong relationships with a range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will work closely with partners to ensure repairs and adaptations are completed to the required standards and within agreed timescales.
