Job Summary:
The Private Sector Housing Team at Derbyshire County Council is seeking a skilled Technical Officer to join their team. As a Technical Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing a caseload of Disabled Facilities Grants, processing grant applications, and recommending grants/loans for approval.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of Disabled Facilities Grants, ensuring timely and efficient processing.
- Process grant applications, including statutory means-testing and benefit/financial assessments, to determine eligibility.
- Recommend grants/loans for approval, taking into account individual circumstances and council policies.
- Oversee work on-site and process grant payments, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
- Assist with other housing support services, such as Green Homes Grants, heating repairs/improvements, and essential home repairs, to provide comprehensive support to vulnerable homeowners and private tenants.
- Visit customers in their homes to gather information, discuss their housing needs, and determine how to best meet their individual requirements, while considering relevant policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- A valid driving licence and access to a personal vehicle for work purposes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and maintain strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, including customers, partners, and colleagues.
- Ability to work closely with partners to ensure repairs and adaptations are completed to the required standards and within agreed timescales.
- Commitment to the council's core vision, values, and the behaviours outlined in their Competency Framework.
