Job Overview

The Skanska Costain STRABAG Joint Venture is seeking a highly skilled System Safety Assurance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our System Engineering Technical Assurance Team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our works meet the employer's requirements and statutory obligations.

Main Responsibilities

  • System Safety Management: Support the System Safety Manager in maintaining the System Safety Management Plan, ensuring that all system safety activities are planned and undertaken across multiple assets on the project.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with construction leads and subcontracts to ensure effective system safety practices and procedures are implemented and communicated to project teams.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Produce and submit asset-specific system safety status reports to support the progressive assurance of the construction phase of the HS2 London Tunnels contract, and report on system safety activities progress and issues across the project area.
  • Technical Assurance: Provide advice on system safety practices and procedures to construction project teams, and contribute to the continued improvement of the technical assurance strategy, processes, and systems.
  • Training and Awareness: Prepare and deliver briefings and awareness training to engender the appropriate system safety competence within the project team.
  • Configuration Control: Assist with maintaining configuration control in relation to changes imposed on the project.
  • Certification: Contribute to Technical Assurance activities required to achieve L3 Certification.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Systems Engineering and Technical Assurance Experience: Exposure to, or an interest in Systems Engineering and Technical Assurance, with experience of the application of system safety assurance processes in major railway projects.
  • Collaboration and Communication Skills: Capable of working collaboratively and effectively with project delivery teams, management, and the project leadership, clients, sub-contractors, and other major stakeholders.
  • Technical Skills: High standard of verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, able to communicate technical assurance and system engineering concepts to construction teams.
  • Information Management: Good information management and analytical skills, able to quickly and efficiently seek out the relevant and pertinent points from large volumes of project information.
  • Project Information Tools: Experienced in the use of project information tools and management systems, including MS Office and web-based collaboration technologies.
  • Requirements Management: Familiarity with requirements management tools, particularly IBM Rational DOORS.
  • Attention to Detail: Good attention to detail.
