Job Overview

Position: Tank Erector
Type: Full-time

Wood is actively seeking a skilled Tank Rigger / Erector with significant expertise in the Oil, Gas, and Chemical sectors.

Objective
  • To provide a high-quality, reliable, and proficient plating construction service that aligns with project and company standards.
  • To contribute to the overall achievement of company objectives and timelines.
  • To ensure that all tasks are executed safely, with no adverse effects on personnel, materials, or the environment.
Key Responsibilities

Main Duties
  • Manage the slinging of materials for transportation within and outside the tank at ground level.
  • Oversee the slinging of materials for elevation over the tank shell onto the roof.
  • Ensure the safe assembly, utilization, and disassembly of tank staging.
  • Safely erect, use, and dismantle tank jacks.
  • Utilize blocks, shackles, tirfors, pull lifts, and winches safely.
  • Load and unload transportation vehicles.
  • Employ rigging and slinging techniques for handling materials, including shell plates and roof structures.
  • Safely construct all types of tank floors, shells, and roofs.
  • Adjust shells to meet required verticality and roundness as specified by allowable tolerances.
  • Utilize erection aids such as shims, nuts, and wedges effectively.
  • Recognize and apply knowledge of cranes, positioning, capacities, and signaling.
  • Operate mobile lifting equipment, including forklifts and hydraulic tools.
  • Maintain and inspect personal tools and equipment.
  • Understand and adhere to statutory lifting regulations.
  • Prepare the site for rigging and lifting tasks.
  • Conduct pre-use inspections and maintain equipment.
  • Develop basic lifting plans as needed.
  • Follow approved method statements.
  • Safely remove tank roofs, shells, and related components.
  • Work in hazardous environments under a 'permit to work' system.
  • Perform tasks at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Prioritize safety and halt any unsafe work practices.
  • Assess risks before commencing work.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements
  • Documented evidence of competency in the role.
  • Banksman certification.
  • Slinger certification.
  • CCNSG safety passport.
  • A minimum of two years of rigging experience in tank construction or equivalent heavy engineering activities.
