The role is integral to the multi-disciplinary team within the Sexual Health services, operating in a progressive sexual health and HIV environment.
Key Responsibilities
The position entails ensuring and upholding a high-quality, user-centered access to the Integrated Sexual Health Service through customer service and support across all clinical venues, maintaining confidentiality and a non-judgmental approach.
The successful applicant will assist service users in navigating all aspects of the offerings available from the Integrated Sexual Health Service.
Main Duties Include:
- Serve as the primary point of contact, providing general information directly to patients, visitors, staff, and others, via various communication methods including correspondence, telephone, email, or in-person interactions.
- Address routine inquiries as appropriate, or determine the most relevant referral point, while recognizing that such inquiries may involve personal and sensitive information, necessitating strict confidentiality.
- Schedule appointments as needed, which may involve issuing written confirmations through pre-prepared standard letters, emails, or texts. Resolve any issues that may arise, including those related to clinic scheduling.
- Perform basic clerical tasks such as managing incoming/outgoing mail, filing, photocopying, and completing standard forms/returns. Typing or word processing routine letters and documents may also be required.
- Document information on relevant systems, which may be computerized or paper-based, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Support multiple clinics within the sexual health framework, which may include chaperoning duties. While prior experience is not mandatory, a willingness to learn and develop is essential.

Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
- Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent, with Maths and English at grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications/demonstrable experience.
- Computer literacy skills equivalent to RSA2, NVQ 2, or demonstrable experience.
Desirable:
- Previous office/administrative experience in an NHS environment.
- A minimum of one year’s experience in an office/administrative role.
- Experience handling confidential information.
- Experience in a receptionist capacity.
