Overview:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated and experienced Chief Technology Officer to lead the information technology initiatives across various departments. This role is essential in enhancing the technological framework and ensuring that IT systems align with the strategic goals of the organization.

The Chief Technology Officer will be responsible for the comprehensive management of technology resources, providing visionary leadership, and implementing innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency. This position requires collaboration with executive leadership to drive the digital transformation agenda.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the technology department, managing budgets and articulating technology requirements
  • Formulate and execute the organization’s Technology Strategy
  • Provide expert guidance on the planning, operation, and upkeep of technology infrastructure
  • Direct IT support services to ensure optimal technical assistance
  • Coordinate technology implementation projects, ensuring resource adequacy and dependability
  • Establish and disseminate policies and procedures for technology management
  • Act as the Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Information Officer
  • Collaborate on strategic technology planning and execution initiatives
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as directed by senior leadership

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven proficiency in information systems management and operational practices
  • Demonstrated success in public sector administration with effective management outcomes
  • Strong leadership capabilities and technical acumen in network systems and enterprise technology
  • Ability to manage diverse projects and financial resources efficiently
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving competencies
  • Organizational and interpersonal skills suited for complex settings
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and their potential applications
  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
