Job Title: Chief Information Systems Officer

At the Commonwealth of Virginia, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Information Systems Officer to lead our Information Technology department. As a key member of our executive team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to leverage technology to drive business outcomes and improve the overall efficiency of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Information Technology department, ensuring alignment with the college's mission and goals.
  • Develop and implement technology plans and strategies to support business objectives and improve operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the planning, design, development, operation, and maintenance of the college's technology infrastructure, including administrative and student information systems, network operations, and employee computing devices.
  • Direct information technology support services, ensuring a prompt, efficient, and client-friendly technical support operation.
  • Coordinate the establishment, maintenance, and communication of policies and procedures for information systems and services.
  • Serve as Chief Information Security Officer and develop the college's information technology security program, policies, procedures, and standards to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information technology resources.
  • Participate on project teams for information technology planning and implementation.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of information systems protocols and operational areas.
  • Progressively responsible experience in higher education administration, particularly in the areas encompassed by this directorship.
  • Proven leadership and technical knowledge in the design, implementation, operation, and support of network infrastructure for voice, video, and data services and/or enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and deliver on time.
  • Ability to prepare and manage multiple budgets and spending plans.
  • Demonstrated strong written, oral, and listening skills, including translating complex technical issues to audiences of varying skills and background.
  • Excellent technical knowledge and analytical and problem-solving skills utilizing logical business judgment to identify complex system issues and coordinate an effective resolution.
  • Demonstrated organizational, leadership, and communication skills necessary to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a large, highly complex organizational structure.
  • Demonstrated awareness of new and emerging technologies and how they may be used to create more efficient operations throughout the college.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various administrative database systems and how they interrelate within the management functions of the college.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and belief in the comprehensive mission of the community college.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
