Transport Manager Opportunity at Sharpsmart UK

Sharpsmart UK is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead our Transport Team in Spennymoor. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective management of our transport operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage depot operations, including driver and vehicle compliance
  • Develop and implement transport schedules, analyze data, and respond to out-of-hours incidents
  • Investigate incidents, assist with disciplinary processes, and conduct driver training and auditing
  • Manage performance, absence, and KPIs, and conduct 121s and interviews
  • Support the National Transport Manager with vehicle and supplier procurement
  • Liaise with internal departments and external third parties
  • Submit transport updates and reports to the Senior Management Team
  • Recruit and develop transport employees, and ensure health and safety standards are met
Requirements:
  • CPC qualification and ADR knowledge
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar transport management role, with strong understanding of transport compliance
  • Experience with vehicle routing and geographical knowledge of the North East region
  • Ability to build relationships with drivers and multitask
  • People management skills, including hiring, performance management, and disciplinary actions
  • Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft packages and intermediate Excel skills
  • Full UK driving license
