Job Summary

Sharpsmart UK is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead our expanding team in Spennymoor. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing depot operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and delivering an efficient and effective collection service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Transport Compliance
    • Ensure all drivers and vehicles are compliant with relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Scheduling and Planning
    • Develop and implement efficient scheduling and planning processes to optimize collection services.
  • Incident Investigation and Management
    • Investigate and manage incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Performance Management and Absence Management
    • Monitor and manage driver performance, attendance, and absence, and implement strategies to improve productivity and reduce absenteeism.
  • Transport Employee Recruitment and Development
    • Recruit, train, and develop transport staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Health and Safety
    • Ensure all transport operations are conducted in a safe and healthy manner, and implement measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
Requirements
  • Qualifications and Experience
    • CPC qualification and ADR knowledge.
    • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar transport management role, with a strong understanding of transport compliance.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
    • Strong people management skills, including hiring, performance management, and absence management.
    • Intermediate Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft packages.
  • Working Hours and Conditions
    • Full-time position, Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm.
