Transport Operations Manager

Job Summary:

Sharpsmart UK is seeking an experienced Transport Operations Manager to lead our Transport Team in Spennymoor. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing depot operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and delivering an efficient and effective collection service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Transport Compliance: Ensure that all transport operations are in compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Scheduling and Planning: Develop and implement efficient scheduling and planning processes to optimize collection services.
  • Incident Investigation and Management: Investigate and manage incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance performance.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of transport staff, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to ensure high levels of performance and job satisfaction.
  • Communication and Liaison: Liaise with internal stakeholders, including senior management, and external stakeholders, such as customers and suppliers, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and submit regular reports to senior management on transport operations, including performance metrics and trends.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications and Experience: CPC qualification, ADR knowledge, and a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar transport management role.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong organizational skills, excellent geographical knowledge of the North East region, and experience of building relationships with drivers and other stakeholders.
  • Education and Certifications: Full UK driving license and intermediate Excel skills.
