Job Title: Highways Driver Chargehand

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highways Driver Chargehand to join our team at Totally Local Company. As a key member of our Highways department, you will be responsible for safely carrying out repairs and improvements to various built environment infrastructure, including modular paving, kerb installation, and bituminous macadam laying.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safe operation of heavy goods vehicles, including tractors, tippers, and HIAB cranes
  • Carrying out repairs and improvements to built environment infrastructure, including drainage repair, excavation, and shoring
  • Applying safe methods of working, including the use of PPE and correct manual handling
  • Driving a range of vehicles with a gross weight of up to and including 32 tonnes
  • Planning workload objectives and allocating work to the team
  • Monitoring standard and performance in line with business objectives

Requirements:

  • Experience working on civil engineering projects with competency in a range of construction activities
  • Working knowledge and application of design drawings, specifications, and civil engineering techniques
  • Conversant in all Health and Safety in an operational environment, including COSHH and HAVS
  • NVQ Level 2 or above in Construction Operations
  • Current Class C licence, including Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
