Senior Consultant Psychologist for CAMHS
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled clinical or counselling psychologist to spearhead and enhance a high-quality, responsive CAMHS psychology service tailored for children, adolescents, their families, and caregivers. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the overall vision for the service.
Following the recent integration of Swansea Bay CAMHS into Swansea Bay UHB, the Psychology and Psychological Therapy Team has merged with the established Swansea Bay Child Psychology Department. This transition has led to the creation of several new roles within psychology and psychological therapy, fostering a robust professional framework. Strong collaborative relationships exist among all professional groups within CAMHS, and the appointed individual will be a valued member of the Professional Leads group.
The selected candidate will be embraced by the wider Swansea Bay child psychology department and will be expected to actively engage with fellow child psychologists on collaborative projects and initiatives. Our Child Psychology department is vibrant, hosting regular CPD sessions, reflective practice, and service enhancement activities, ensuring the new member is integrated into ongoing clinical and professional development programs.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will provide professional leadership to a team of psychologists and psychological therapists within CAMHS, ensuring effective management structures are established and maintaining high standards of clinical governance for the team. They will assist the Head of Child Psychology in recruiting for any additional funded positions within CAMHS. Furthermore, they will engage in both direct and indirect clinical work, delivering a variety of psychological interventions to children, young people, their families, and their support networks.
As the lead psychologist, the individual will implement systems for service review and evaluation, ensuring robust clinical governance across the psychology team. They will also support other psychologists and psychological therapists within CAMHS, facilitating their professional growth and career development through appropriate supervision and support.
