Key Responsibilities

Role Duties:

  • Leadership: Deliver effective managerial and clinical guidance, assisting the Team Manager in providing high-quality services.
  • Client Support: Supervise comprehensive assessments, treatment, and support for clients with severe and enduring mental health conditions in the community, supported accommodation, and their residences.
  • Service User Transition: Facilitate the movement of service users from acute in-patient units and out-of-area placements, fostering greater independence in less restrictive environments.
  • Team Coordination: Manage referrals, provide line management and supervision, and support the ongoing professional development of team members.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker with current registration (mental health / LD/ Adult) relevant to the role.
  • Evidence of post-registration training in the relevant service area.
  • Completion of Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent/Practice Educators/Practice Placement Educator.

Desirable

  • Degree/diploma level supplemented by specialist qualification, training such as: Leadership or Management training or experience, courses to master's level equivalent relevant to the care group such as substance use/misuse.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in supervising staff and students.
  • Ability to manage a caseload of individuals with complex mental health needs.
  • Experience, supported by knowledge of working with and understanding the complex needs of mental health clients in a community care team setting.

Desirable

  • Awareness of Trust policies and service specifications.
  • Extensive post-qualifying experience in the relevant service area.
  • Experience in delivering psychosocial interventions in mental health.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Comprehensive knowledge of interventions specific to the service area.
  • Understanding of performance reports and their relevance to the team.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and other legislation related to the management of clients with mental health issues.
  • Proficient in computer use, including emails and spreadsheets.

Desirable

  • Good knowledge of service objectives.
  • Experience in initiating or participating in clinical audit/research related to clinical practice/service provision.
