Clinical Services Supervisor

Position Overview

As a Clinical Services Supervisor, you will oversee the comprehensive management, inventory control, and distribution of blood products and components to healthcare facilities and NHSBT locations within the designated region. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Ensuring that all blood units are processed and validated systematically and within established timelines to optimize stock availability.
  • Aligning policies, practices, and service enhancements with national healthcare strategies.
  • Leading and developing the Hospital Services (HS) team, which includes recruitment, performance evaluations, and overall staff management. You will also be responsible for departmental budget oversight.
  • Actively participating as a key member of the Regional and National Hospital Services Team.
  • Collaborating with fellow HS Managers and occasionally with the Strategic Team to formulate and implement effective strategies.
  • Facilitating cross-departmental communication and collaboration regarding Hospital Services.
  • Acting as a deputy for the Regional HS Manager and fulfilling the role of Duty Hospital Services Manager as necessary.

This position requires travel and may involve irregular hours and overnight stays when necessary, with prior notification.

Participation in an on-call rotation may be required, which could include evenings, weekends, or public holidays.

Candidate Profile

Experience and Expertise

  • Proven leadership and management experience within NHSBT or a related pharmaceutical setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to address employee grievances, conflicts, and disciplinary matters.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice, Good Laboratory Practice, and Total Quality Management principles.
  • Familiarity with relevant policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Experience in validation and development initiatives.
  • Knowledge of audit processes and compliance requirements.

Educational Qualifications

  • FIBMS/Masters degree OR equivalent experience (as detailed in Experience and Expertise) with a commitment to pursue a Master's level qualification.
