Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Welsh Speaking Learning Support Assistant to join our team at New Directions Holding. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and social development of pupils in primary schools across the Neath Port Talbot area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Teacher: Assist the teacher in delivering lessons and activities in a safe and engaging manner, ensuring that pupils receive the best possible education.
  • Lesson Preparation: Assist in the preparation of lesson plans and learning resources, helping to create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
  • Classroom Management: Support the teacher with classroom management, ensuring that pupils behave in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Individual Support: Provide individual support to pupils who require additional help, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
  • Record Keeping: Assist the teacher with maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of pupil progress and development.
Requirements:
  • Welsh Language Skills: Have a good understanding of the Welsh language and be able to communicate effectively with pupils, teachers, and other staff members.
  • Experience: Ideally, we ask for 3 months minimum experience working with children or have a child-based qualification. We also consider candidates with transferable skills, such as experience working in social care, coaching, or nursing.
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant, NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant, Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), CACHE Level 3 in Childcare & Education, or BTEC National Certificate in Childhood Studies (Nursery Nursing).
