Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Specialist Perinatal Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic mental health team.

As a Specialist Perinatal Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing evidence-based assessments, interventions, and support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges during the perinatal period. Your expertise will empower families to navigate this crucial stage of life with resilience and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify individual needs and strengths.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to the unique circumstances of each client.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions that promote mental well-being, functional independence, and social participation.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Educate clients and their families about perinatal mental health conditions and available resources.
  • Advocate for the needs of individuals experiencing perinatal mental health challenges within the healthcare system.
Essential Requirements:
  • Minimum BSc level equivalent training in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC Professional Registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience of working in a mental health setting.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working.
  • Knowledge of OT assessment, intervention and practice models relevant to the service user group (MoHO).
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act.
  • Knowledge of RCOT and HCPC standards.
  • Ability to record information clearly and accurately.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good team worker with effective interpersonal skills.
Desirable Requirements:
  • Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
  • Evidence of continued CPD.
  • Experience of supporting families/carers to maintain their relationships with service users.
  • Experience of supervising junior staff/students.
  • Understanding of the recovery approach.
  • Personal time management.
  • Supervisory skills.
