About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity. The successful candidate will work closely with Physiotherapy colleagues to provide care, focusing on fatigue management, anxiety management, and breathlessness management.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct holistic Occupational Therapy assessments and diagnoses using a rehabilitation model that incorporates physical, psychological, social, emotional, and spiritual aspects of patient care.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical reasoning, working in partnership with patients, carers, multidisciplinary team colleagues, and other professionals/agencies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and carers, particularly where there are barriers to understanding, requiring empathy, reassurance, and persuasive skills.
  • Contribute to the effective discharge of patients from the in-patient unit, liaising with patients, families, colleagues, and members of the primary healthcare team.
  • Participate in teaching, assessing, and evaluating Occupational Therapy students to graduate level within the clinical area of specialist palliative care.
  • Act as a Moving and Handling link person for all clinical areas, facilitating Moving and Handling risk assessments and risk reduction measures.
Requirements
  • UK Driving License with access to a vehicle for work.
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Health Professional Council (HPC) registration.
  • Evidence of relevant postgraduate courses/CPD.
  • Relevant work experience.
  • Experience of MDT working.
