Senior Commissioning Editor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Commissioning Editor to join our Commercial Fiction team at Hachette UK. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for acquiring and publishing commercial fiction titles that meet the highest standards of quality and commercial appeal.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Commercial Fiction Publishing Director to develop and implement a refreshed identity and strategy for the team.
- Drive commercial acquisitions across genres, including general fiction, romance, crime and thriller, and saga.
- Work with the Publishing Director and other editors to grow the print and digital side of the list, ensuring continued profitable growth for the list overall.
- Develop and maintain excellent author and agent relationships, and be an ambassador for Hodder Fiction within the industry.
- Contribute to meetings and brainstorms, and liaise with authors, agents, freelancers, and internal teams to ensure high levels of care and energy across our publishing.
- Proven track record of commercial fiction publishing, with a strong understanding of the commercial fiction market.
- Excellent author and agent relationships, with the ability to attract talent to the list and build a strong list of writers in the commercial space.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to drive profitable growth for the list.
- Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to problem-solve, prioritize multiple tasks, and galvanize junior members of the team.
