Job Title: Respiratory Specialist Nurse or Physiotherapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Respiratory Specialist Nurse or Physiotherapist to join our COPD Inreach Team on a 12-month fixed-term or secondment basis to cover maternity leave.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a current Band 6 who wants to specialise in Respiratory or an experienced Band 5 who wants to progress. As a specialist, autonomous clinician, you will provide care to patients with COPD in hospital and community settings, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality clinical care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical education and support to medical staff, nursing and therapy staff, patients, and their carers.
  • Contribute to the development of specialist protocols and care pathways for people requiring a respiratory service.
  • Advise, educate, and train other healthcare professionals on the optimal management of patients with COPD.
  • Commit to a philosophy of care that has an emphasis on self-management and patient empowerment through health education and health promotion activities.
  • Act as a clinical educator for students within the team, providing clinical supervision, education, and assessment.
  • Work with local GPs, ambulance service, and Community Health to promote and develop the service in the community.
Personal Qualities
  • Demonstrates a commitment to personal and team continued professional development.
  • Be able to demonstrate complex analytical and creative problem-solving skills in unpredictable situations.
  • Currently Registered Nurse with the relevant UK professional body (NMC).
  • Meets the standards for continuing professional development as outlined by the relevant professional body.
Requirements
  • Evidence of relevant clinical specialist knowledge in respiratory care acquired through degree-level training or equivalent.
  • Evidence of coaching and supporting learners in practice.
  • Demonstrable hospital and/or community experience successfully delivering clinical care to general and specialist areas, including respiratory medicine, as a band 5 or above.
  • Experience of working in a community setting.
  • Awareness of Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme.
  • Holds a current valid UK driving licence and is able to travel within the post requirements.
  • Able to work weekends on a rota basis.
