About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Lidl GB. As a key member of our Health and Safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, customers, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective health and safety policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Conduct regular site visits, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate potential health and safety risks.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to employees, contractors, and management on health and safety matters.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement health and safety training programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and industry associations.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in health and safety legislation and regulations, and ensure that our policies and procedures are compliant.
  • Contribute to the development of our health and safety strategy and objectives.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a health and safety role, ideally within a retail or warehousing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate is essential, and holding or working towards the NEBOSH Diploma is desirable.
  • Membership of a relevant industry body, such as IOSH.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with employees, contractors, and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Results-oriented and able to work independently, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexibility to travel to all areas within GB, and a full UK driving license is required.
