Our Therapeutic Apheresis Services (TAS) team is responsible for administering a variety of critical and life-enhancing treatments, including Plasma Exchange, Red Cell Exchange, Stem Cell Harvest, and CAR-T Cell Harvest for both adults and children.
Operating across multiple regions, we cater to a diverse range of specialties, such as Sickle Cell Disorder, Haematological Oncology, Renal, and Neurological Conditions. Our team is highly skilled and dedicated to providing expert and compassionate care to a varied patient demographic.
No prior experience in Apheresis is necessary, as we offer a comprehensive 12-week supernumerary period that includes a full modular, academic, and practical training program.
Key Responsibilities
As a Clinical Apheresis Nurse, you will collaborate closely with the Lead Nurse to deliver clinical care for patients and donors. You will be part of a supportive team and will take responsibility for providing individualized care to our patients. Your key duties will include:
- Executing therapeutic apheresis procedures utilizing advanced technology.
- Collaborating with your team to ensure high-quality, compassionate, and effective care for our patients and donors.
- Engaging in and leading international studies, local audits, and research initiatives to enhance clinical practices.
- Delivering expert and compassionate apheresis treatments to patients within our Therapeutic Apheresis Services (TAS) Unit and through outreach to nearby hospitals.
- Acting as a deputy for the Lead Nurse when necessary to provide daily leadership for the unit.
- Participating in a 24-hour on-call rota to deliver emergency treatments outside of regular hours within your region.
Candidate Profile
Experience and Skills
- Possess extensive clinical experience in an acute care setting.
- Support the professional growth of yourself and others through mentoring in a clinical environment.
- Exhibit experience in identifying opportunities for clinical and service enhancements.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of clinical effectiveness principles and best practices.
- Have knowledge of patient safety initiatives, clinical governance, and risk management.
- Experience with medical devices and technology is essential.
Qualifications and Training
- Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration (RN1 or RNA) and relevant post-registration experience.
- A degree in a clinical area or equivalent post-registration experience/qualification in an acute or specialized clinical field.
- Evidence of recent post-registration educational pursuits.
- Awareness of current issues in nursing practice.
- Possess a teaching/assessment qualification or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrate ongoing professional development.
- Hold a valid driving license and have access to a vehicle for outreach services.
