Workshop Operations Manager

Job Summary:
Adecco is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Manager to join our client's team in the transport industry. As a Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the workshop facility, ensuring the smooth and efficient maintenance of vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the workshop facility, overseeing the maintenance and repair of vehicles to meet industry standards.
- Authorise and oversee repairs, servicing, and modification tasks, ensuring compliance with transport legislation and maintenance manuals.
- Develop and implement service schedules, monitoring and reporting any slippage to senior management.
- Ensure all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, adhering to industry regulations and company policies.
- Compile and review Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on a monthly and annual basis, identifying areas for improvement.
- Manage documentation related to performance management and vehicle records, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Organise and plan training courses for workshop staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
- Maintain health and safety standards in the workshop facility, conducting regular inspections and implementing measures to prevent accidents and near misses.
- Investigate accidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts and materials.
- Supervise and manage workshop staff, including the Workshop Co-ordinator, admin, and stores personnel.
- Assist the Transport Manager with new vehicle inspections, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct regular focus group meetings and tool box talks, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and open communication.
- Provide on-call support on a rota basis, ensuring the workshop facility operates smoothly and efficiently at all times.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Workshop Manager or similar role, with a strong understanding of transport workshop operations and vehicle maintenance.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices, with the ability to maintain a safe working environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team of workshop staff.
- Ability to plan and organise resources effectively, ensuring the efficient operation of the workshop facility.
- Valid driver's licence, with the ability to drive company vehicles as required.
