Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the transport workshop facility, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
- Authorise repairs, servicing, and modification tasks as directed by the Transport Manager, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Set service schedules and report any slippage to the Transport Manager, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Ensure all vehicles are repaired and maintained in accordance with road transport legislation and maintenance manuals, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Compile and review Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on a monthly and annual basis, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
- Manage all documentation related to performance management and vehicle records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Organise and plan training courses for workshop staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Maintain health and safety standards in the workshop facility, conducting regular inspections and implementing measures to prevent accidents and near misses.
- Investigate accidents and near misses on vehicles and in the workshop, identifying causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers for lead times of parts, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing delays.
- Supervise Workshop Co-Ordinator, admin, and stores staff, providing guidance and support as necessary.
- Assist the Transport Manager with new vehicle inspections, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular focus group meetings and tool box talks, promoting open communication and encouraging staff to share ideas and suggestions.
- Provide on-call support on a rota basis, ensuring the workshop facility is always staffed and operational.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Workshop Manager or similar role, with a strong understanding of transport workshop operations and vehicle maintenance.
- Sound knowledge of industry regulations and company policies, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical and effective manner.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff to achieve their best.
- Ability to plan and organise resources effectively, with a strong focus on efficiency and productivity.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices, with the ability to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality results.
- Valid driver's licence, with the ability to drive company vehicles as necessary.
