Position Overview

Role Responsibilities
As a Lead Building Surveyor, you will oversee a team of Property Condition Surveyors, whose skills are crucial for ensuring the quality and safety of our clients' residences, our substantial long-term investment strategy, and our sustainability initiatives.
We have two openings available, one focusing on the South and West Devon and Cornwall regions, and the other on Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Somerset, and Mid and North Devon.
We prioritize the protection and welfare of vulnerable populations and expect all employees to uphold this commitment. Employment will be contingent upon a satisfactory basic check through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Candidate Requirements
To qualify for the Lead Building Surveyor position, you should possess the skills, knowledge, and experience suitable for a level 2 Team Leader/Supervisor role, including:
  • Comprehensive building surveying expertise, supported by a professional qualification in Property Surveying (RICS, CIOB, CABE, or equivalent)
  • Strong building diagnosis and fault-finding capabilities.
  • Experience with domestic properties from a technical standpoint, demonstrating a solid understanding of the built environment.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations relevant to housing management and the construction sector, including CDM.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, or managing teams.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry standards.
  • While experience in social housing is not mandatory, candidates new to the sector should be prepared to quickly familiarize themselves with the operational landscape, key stakeholders, challenges, risks, and opportunities.
