Job Title: Specialist One to One Study Skills Tutor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Study Skills Specialist to join our team at Randstad Student & Worker Support. As a Specialist One to One Study Skills Tutor, you will work closely with students who have specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) studying at Universities and/or Colleges in Salford.

About the Role:

This exciting opportunity is a hybrid role, requiring you to provide both in-person and online sessions to meet student preferences. As a Study Skills Specialist, you will be responsible for providing learning support and academic guidance to students, including creating individual learning plans tailored to their needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop independence in students
  • Build on strengths and learning strategies
  • Create strategies around organisation and time management
  • Create action plans to stay on track with studies
  • Build on research skills - widening knowledge by using a variety of sources
  • Distinguish appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
  • Build on comprehension skills within reading and writing
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must hold membership with one of the following professional bodies:

  • British Dyslexia Association (BDA)
  • Professional Membership The Association of Dyslexia (ADSHE)
  • Dyslexia Guild
  • The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience of working with clients with specific learning difficulties
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths whilst maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload of students
