Role Overview
The position entails serving as the deputy section leader and the designated Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA), Medical Physics Expert (MPE), and Laser Protection Adviser (LPA) for numerous external clients across the region. The successful candidate will operate with considerable independence to ensure the effective delivery of the service specifications set forth by the organization. Responsibilities include conducting audits to evaluate adherence to regulatory standards and contributing significantly to the advancement of scientific services. Additionally, the role encompasses the delivery of training programs for healthcare professionals through both scheduled and impromptu sessions.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with legislation concerning radiation and laser safety, providing guidance on necessary corrective measures.
- Assist and collaborate closely with the section leader in fulfilling service commitments.
- Act as RPA, MPE, and LPA for designated sites under the post holder's jurisdiction.
- Oversee all advisory and support services provided for areas and clients for which the post holder is responsible.
- Investigate radiation incidents and compile comprehensive incident reports for clients, ensuring the accuracy of reports generated by colleagues.
- Contribute to the development of income-generating services within the organization.
- Engage in scientific research and development initiatives aimed at enhancing the applications and safety of radiation usage.
- Provide expert advice on legislation and guidelines related to radiation protection to clients, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current legal requirements.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential Certifications
- Possession of at least two current certifications in RPA, MPE, LPA, and RWA.
- HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in radiation protection.
- All four certifications: RPA, MPE, LPA, and RWA.
- Experience in a department providing commercial RPA services.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in delivering commercial RPA services.
