Location: Office-based role in Plymouth and Plymstock

About Age UK Plymouth:
Age UK Plymouth is a prominent charity dedicated to supporting older individuals and their caregivers in the Plymouth area. The organization provides a variety of services aimed at helping individuals lead fulfilling and active lives in their later years.

Age UK is committed to combating loneliness through a range of regular activities and special events designed to foster community inclusion. Their information and advice service collaborates with various organizations and charities to enhance the quality of life for older adults.

Additionally, Age UK Plymouth, in partnership with Livewell Southwest, operates a 24-bed short-term Care Centre that offers transitional care from acute settings or helps prevent hospital admissions, promoting independence before returning home.

Key Responsibilities:
As the CEO, you will report directly to the Chair of Trustees and will be responsible for:
  1. Collaborating with trustees and stakeholders to create and implement a forward-thinking strategic plan aimed at empowering individuals over 50 and their caregivers to enjoy a vibrant and independent life.
  2. Building and nurturing a high-performing team while fostering a culture of collaboration, effective communication, and the delivery of exceptional services.
  3. Designing and executing a fundraising strategy to meet established priorities and projects, ensuring sustainable income streams and investment.

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will be an ambitious and skilled leader, currently serving as a CEO or in a senior leadership capacity, ready to transition into their first CEO role. You will possess:
  • Experience operating at a strategic level with inspiring leadership capabilities.
  • A strong empathy and commitment to supporting older adults, individuals living with dementia, and their caregivers.
  • The ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • A visionary mindset with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Experience in financial forecasting and reporting.
  • A commercial perspective, with a track record of identifying and implementing new revenue-generating opportunities.
