Position Overview:

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Age UK Plymouth will play a pivotal role in leading a well-established charity dedicated to enhancing the lives of older individuals and their caregivers in the Plymouth area.

Compensation:

Competitive salary of up to £70,000, commensurate with experience.

Work Environment:

This role is office-based in Plymouth and Plymstock.

Organizational Mission:

Age UK Plymouth is committed to providing a variety of services that empower older adults to lead fulfilling and active lives. The organization is focused on combating loneliness through regular community activities and special events designed to foster inclusion.

In partnership with Livewell Southwest, Age UK Plymouth operates a 24-bed short-term Care Centre that facilitates 'step down' care from acute settings and helps prevent hospital admissions, promoting independence prior to returning home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with trustees and stakeholders to formulate and execute a strategic plan aimed at supporting individuals over 50 and their caregivers in achieving independence.
  • Build and nurture a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, effective communication, and the delivery of exceptional services.
  • Develop and implement fundraising initiatives to meet established priorities and secure sustainable income streams.
  • Lead the organization in expanding its reach and enhancing its impact within the community.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will be an ambitious and skilled leader, currently serving as a CEO or in a senior leadership capacity, ready to transition into their first CEO role.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in strategic leadership with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Genuine empathy and a strong commitment to supporting older adults, individuals living with dementia, and their caregivers.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Visionary thinking and a proactive approach to leadership.
  • Experience in financial planning and reporting.
  • A commercial mindset with a track record of identifying and capitalizing on income-generating opportunities.
