About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Health Play Specialist to join our Acute Paediatric team in Hywel Dda University Health Board. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for devising and delivering individualized play programs to support children and young people in their hospital admission and treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement therapeutic play interventions through one-to-one sessions or group work.
  • Provide specific therapeutic play and support to children and young people in healthcare settings.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide expertise in therapeutic play and support.
  • Maintain, develop, and evaluate the therapeutic play service to ensure it remains effective and efficient.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Edexcel Certificate in Hospital Play Specialism or Foundation Degree in Health Play Specialism.
  • Registration with Health Play Specialist Education Trust (HPSET) and membership of National Association of Health Play Specialists (NAHPS).
  • Experience working with children and young people in healthcare settings.
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, young people, and healthcare professionals.
