About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Play Therapist to join our team at Hywel Dda University Health Board. As a Play Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic play interventions to children and young people in healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver individualized play programs to support children and young people in processing their emotions and understanding their hospital experience.
- Provide preparation, distraction, and post-procedural play to help children cope with medical procedures.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic family-centered care.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of the therapeutic play service to ensure it remains fit for purpose.
Requirements
- Edexcel Certificate in Hospital Play Specialism or Foundation Degree in Health Play Specialism.
- Registered with Health Play Specialist Education Trust (HPSET) and Member of National Association of Health Play Specialists (NAHPS).
- Experience working with children and young people in healthcare settings, with a focus on therapeutic play.
- Documented evidence of continuing professional development.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and healthcare professionals.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Training in counseling skills.
- Sign Language.
- Post-qualification experience in a similar role.
