Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Play Specialist to join our Acute Paediatric team in Hywel Dda University Health Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for devising and delivering individualized play programs to support children and young people in their hospital admission and treatment.

Main Duties
  • Develop and implement therapeutic play interventions through one-to-one sessions or group work.
  • Provide specific therapeutic play and support to children and young people in healthcare settings.
  • Share expertise in therapeutic play with members of the multidisciplinary health, social care team, and third sector agencies.
  • Maintain, develop, and evaluate the therapeutic play service to ensure it remains effective and relevant.

Requirements
  • Edexcel Certificate in Hospital Play Specialism or Foundation Degree in Health Play Specialism.
  • Registered with Health Play Specialist Education Trust (HPSET) and Member of National Association of Health Play Specialists (NAHPS).
  • Experience working with children and young people with complex medical and psychological needs in healthcare settings.
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
Language Skills

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this role. The Health Board offers support and training to help staff develop their Welsh language skills.
