About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Health Consultant to join our team at Hywel Dda University Health Board. As a Deputy Director of Public Health, you will play a key leadership role in shaping the health and wellbeing of our population.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Provide expert public health leadership and guidance to our teams, ensuring that our population health strategies are informed by the latest evidence and best practice.
  2. Work closely with our senior leadership team to develop and implement population health plans, aligning with our corporate strategies and priorities.
  3. Lead on the development and implementation of public health policies and programmes, ensuring that they are evidence-based and effective in improving health outcomes.
  4. Collaborate with our partners, including local authorities, Public Health Wales, and the CMO's office, to ensure that our public health approaches are aligned with national and local priorities.
  5. Provide leadership and management to a team of public health professionals, ensuring that they have the skills and support they need to deliver high-quality public health services.
  6. Develop and maintain strong relationships with our stakeholders, including the public, patients, and healthcare professionals, to ensure that our public health services are responsive to their needs.
  7. Stay up-to-date with the latest public health research and evidence, applying this knowledge to inform our public health strategies and programmes.
Requirements
  • Membership of the GMC Full and Specialist Register or the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Public Health or a related field.
  • Proven experience of working in public health, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality public health services and programmes.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of public health professionals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a strong commitment to public health and the health and wellbeing of our population.
