Your Role:

As an Underwriting Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the underwriting team and ensuring the effective management of our insurance portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the performance metrics of the portfolio and individual agreements; responsible for analyzing dashboards and key indicators to assess trends and outcomes.
  • Collaborating with various Digital Underwriting teams, including actuarial, data science, and business intelligence, to enhance portfolio performance. You will be tasked with providing insights on aggregate optimization, eligibility criteria adjustments, and market pricing strategies.
  • Assisting in the underwriting process, onboarding, and integration of new agreements and partnerships.
  • Maintaining Digital Underwriting guidelines and documentation. You will liaise with the Digital Underwriting product team to adapt or establish new product rules and requirements.
  • Supporting Underwriters during the annual planning cycle, as well as preparing materials for Underwriting Committees, Quarterly Business Reviews, and other necessary meetings.
  • Engaging with clients; addressing underwriting, accounting, and technical inquiries from customers.
  • Managing diaries and organizing meetings with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring all documentation is ready prior to meetings. Distributing notes and following up on action items.
  • Assisting with Underwriting Reviews as needed, which may involve gathering information, drafting findings and recommendations, and ensuring follow-up on the implementation of suggestions.

  • Adhering to the policies and procedures of Bell & Clements Ltd.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in underwriting or assisting with US property insurance or re-insurance.
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to manage the needs of multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
  • A proactive self-starter with the confidence to make timely decisions.
  • A foundational understanding of standard insurance terminology, coverages, and metrics.
  • Experience in evaluating exposure data is preferred.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Excel is essential.
