We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced medical professional to join our team as a Training Programme Director in Cardiothoracic Surgery. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of the Core Surgical training programme and contribute to the development of the future healthcare workforce.
Main Responsibilities- Lead the delivery of the Core Surgical training programme, working closely with the Head of School and other stakeholders.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve learner supervision, assessment, and experience.
- Engage faculty and ensure effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future.
- Contribute to the development of a whole workforce transformation agenda, including multi-professional links.
- Experience in clinical and educational leadership, including managing a multi-professional team.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-professional team.
- Understanding of developments involving the relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, and NHS organisations.
- Knowledge of the NHS, its structures, and processes, including understanding workforce matters.
- Ability to problem-solve and maintain objectivity, with excellent organisational and time management skills.
We offer a competitive salary, including a £5,000 per annum Education Management Contribution (EMC), and the opportunity to work with a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall delivery of the Core Surgical training programme and will be expected to work closely with the Head of School and other stakeholders to achieve this goal.
Please note that prior to applying, you should discuss this role with your local Director of Medical Education to ensure that this work functions as a secondment with time freed up in your job plan to fulfil expectations. The financial contribution to the Trust is then to backfill any clinical time.
