About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at Rethink Mental Illness. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental illness to regain confidence and participate in social and workplace activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care tasks such as assisting with eating, toileting, bathing, dressing, and hygiene, as outlined in care plans.
  • Offer key worker support to service users, including one-on-one assistance and coordination with mental health agencies.
  • Prioritise the individual's needs, using communication, motivation, and coaching to help them achieve their goals.
  • Build respectful, honest relationships with service users, maintaining professional boundaries and following the Rethink Mental Illness Code of Conduct.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Transferable life/work experience to apply to this role.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills, with the ability to empathise and understand the needs of service users.
  • Demonstrate behaviours consistent with the values of the Charity.
  • Experience of providing support to people with a mental illness, or experience of providing care and/or support services within another social care setting.
  • Experience of providing personal care, including support with eating or drinking, toileting, washing, bathing, dressing, oral care, and the care of skin and hair.
